FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you want to know.

Honest answers to the questions couples, families, and clients ask most — about how Kate works, the legal stuff, and everything in between.

  • Once you enquire, I respond personally within 24 hours for an initial chat. From there we will have a free no-obligation consultation — by phone, video or over coffee — to make sure you're a great fit. Once booked, I meet with you, send a detailed questionnaire, and build your ceremony. I share drafts and refine everything until it feels completely right. On the day I arrive early, coordinate with your vendors, and deliver the ceremony we’ve built together.

  • Depending on your package, I meet you 1-2 times for in-depth sessions plus ongoing messaging support throughout planning. I wants to know you well enough that by the day, your ceremony feels completely natural and true to who you are.

  • That's completely normal — and exactly what the consultation is for. I help you discover what feels right through conversation. Many couples arrive without a clear vision and leave with a ceremony that feels entirely, specifically them.

  • Yes. I service greater Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast (including hinterland), and the Gold Coast. Travel fees may apply for locations outside my base area — this is discussed transparently on your consultation call.

  • Everything you need — with no hidden add-ons.

My fee includes all planning meetings (typically 2–3), guidance and ceremony resources, preparation and lodgement of all legal documentation, and of course, the design and delivery of your ceremony on the day.

From our first conversation through to standing beside you as you say “I do,” you’re fully supported every step of the way.

  • Absolutely — and this is one of my favourite parts of the process. I provide guidance, prompts and reviews your personal vows so they feel like you on paper, not like something pulled from the internet. I also incorporate your vows into the ceremony so they land with full impact.

  • A Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) is a legal document required under Australian law. It must be lodged with your celebrant at least one calendar month before your wedding (and no more than 18 months before). I guide you through completing it and lodge it on your behalf.

  • You'll each need proof of identity (passport or birth certificate) and proof of any previous marriage ending (divorce certificate or death certificate of a former spouse). Kate provides a clear checklist so nothing is missed.

  • I provide a commemorative certificate on the day. Your official government-issued Marriage Certificate is issued by the Births, Deaths and Marriages registry in your state — I lodge all paperwork after your ceremony and you'll receive it within a few weeks.

  • Yes — Australian law requires certain monitum words to make the ceremony legally valid. They're brief, and I weave them in so naturally that most couples don't even notice the "legal bit." Everything around those words is entirely yours to customise.

  • Absolutely. I love elopements. Two witnesses plus myself is all you legally need. I help you plan an intimate, meaningful ceremony — just the two of you — that is no less beautiful for being small. The same legal process applies.

We also have partnered with Cottage in the Woods for an all-inclusive elopement package in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

  • For weddings, I recommend reaching out as early as possible — peak season dates book out 12–18 months in advance. That said, I do take short-notice bookings when my calendar allows, so don't hesitate to reach out even if your date is soon.

  • Once you've had your consultation and decided I am your person, a deposit secures your date. I outline my booking process and payment schedule clearly — no hidden terms or unexpected requirements.

  • Yes. I am flexible and accommodates weekday ceremonies, morning ceremonies, and non-traditional timings. Some of the most beautiful ceremonies happen on a Tuesday afternoon. Reach out to discuss what works for you.

  • Life happens. I handle date changes with understanding and flexibility where possible. My terms are outlined clearly in your booking agreement, and I always approach these situations with care rather than rigidity.
