Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose me?
People often comment that my passion for Celebrant work is evident – they can see that I love it. It really does come naturally to me - I get energy from being able to curate and deliver those unforgettable and significant life moments. I’m also a great collaborator and I enjoy designing the day your way. I’m not afraid of doing things differently and welcome whatever is meaningful to you. My background in drama means I’ll be the least nervous person there, that you’ll hear every word of the ceremony, and my history in social work means I can deal with anything unexpected! I do this work because I believe in love and the power of ritual. Read the reviews below for more info.
How much do you cost?
Wedding fees are based on the location of your wedding but, as a rough guide, Brisbane ceremonies start at $850. Gold and Sunshine Coast destinations start from $1000. I’ll go anywhere, but beyond these areas my travel and accommodation will form part of your quote. Fees for other ceremonies can be provided on application.
What is included in your fee?
My fee is all-inclusive and there are no hidden add-ons. It covers all the meetings (usually 2-3), materials (ceremony packs and samples), legal requirements (paperwork and submissions) and being there on the day (obviously!).
How do we get started?
You can email me (marrymekate1@gmail.com) or give me a call (0423 161 218) and we’ll make a time to meet in person or online if you prefer. I’m based in Yeronga, on the Southside of Brisbane and know lots of great ‘mid-way’ cafes to meet for an initial chat.
Do you do elopements?
I sure do! If you’re looking for a complete elopement package, I am delighted to be partnering with “Moments” by Cottage in The Woods, who provide bespoke elopement experiences in the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland.
If that’s not what you’re looking for, I can create a simple and beautiful ceremony for just the two of you. Tell me where, and I’ll provide a quote - elopements start at $500.
Can you marry us tomorrow?
Uh, no. Please note, the only place you can get married tomorrow is Las Vegas! The Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) will require your identity documents and needs to be completed 30 days prior to your ceremony. It’s my job to guide you through it.
Do you work with children and animals?
Yes. And yes.
Do you have any reviews?
Lots. And here are some of them:
“Kate’s flexibility and commitment to identifying a process for our wedding that worked for us was deeply valued by us. On the day, Kate made sure everyone felt a part of our joy and part of the ceremony, so it felt like we were starting out wrapped in our community of care. I could not imagine anyone else having conducted our wedding, without Kate’s care and attention it would not have been as stress free and wonderfully joyous as it was.” Lisa and Adrian
"Kate - you have been so amazing. Right from the start I have felt so relaxed knowing you will have everything under control for us on 'the big day!' Thank you for the reassuring words and the care you've taken in getting the ceremony perfect! We will forever be so grateful to you Kate!" Stacey & Simon
"We couldn't have asked for a better celebrant leading up to, and on the day of our wedding. Kate is kind, creative and warm and those qualities definitely shone through at our ceremony. Our guests had so much positive feedback. She walked us through the whole process and no question was ever too silly or inconvenient. An absolute legend with a great sense of humour. Nothing like the boring old ladies you see online! I would recommend Kate to anyone.” Ashleigh & Nick
"Kate was so lovely, she understood exactly what we wanted for our ceremony. Highly recommend her, very charismatic and easy to get along with. Thanks Kate." Emma & Peter
“Kate made everything so easy and the day itself a real breeze! She walked us through the whole process and was available whenever we needed her. Kate is wonderful we we would recommend her 100%!" Claire & Jason
What are your top 3 ‘memorable’ wedding moments?
When Grandma got lost on her way back from the toilet and pushed her way between the couple mid-ceremony; when the brides veil got stuck in a tree and a passer-by on a pushbike lept up and set it free; when a tree branch broke off with an almighty crack and fell on some guests* right as I was acknowledging the elements of nature in the final declaration! Rest assured, I can handle anything!
*everyone was okay!!
